A Snowshoe Trek

We took Braden for his first snowshoe adventure - OK, he was carried. But the rest of us walked in snowshoes. It was a blue-bird winter day. And Jamie K. was along for the walk.

First we met a lone XC skier making her way out of the woods past the barn.

Cristin, Braden (on her back) and Finn walk the VAST snowmobile trails.

Cristin, Braden and Tegan pose atop the bridge. Guess who was down under the bridge?

...Finnegan of course!

Tegan walks ahead, Riley runs back...

A quick stop for some hot chocolate and snacks along the way. We love a good winter picnic.

Braden slept for most of the trek.
Tegan and Riley are getting waaaaaay ahead of us!

We stopped for a few long jumps off the side of the trail.

Jamie soared...

Finnegan took a little walkabout on his own to find some open space.

The views were pretty nice on the way back home.

Green Mountain Marathon

October 17th, began with a beautiful sunrise over the mountains looking east of North Hero Vermont, across Lake Champlain.
The Green Mountain Marathon is a small marathon (about 300 runners) in the Champlain Islands of Vermont. Most of the course is along West Shore Road which is bordered by the lake, farms, orchards, and beautiful foliage. Amazing setting for a marathon.

Here's Patrick around mile 4, seeing the homemade signs and getting some family encouragement for the first time. Around mile 14 going in for the high-fives...still feeling great.
One group of supporters: Braden, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Peter, Tegan, and Finn.
Braden enjoying the race from his warm seat.
Cheering on at the finish.
Jamie K. with a solid finish - Nice run!
Almost there....3:58:01
Finn approves of daddy's first marathon.
Tegan loves the finisher's medal, and strikes a pose...
Modeling the signs made by Emma, Jack, Nana, and Maureen. Finally relaxing with family...
...and still more family.

October Snow

We woke up to find a few inches of snow on October 13th...looked like real winter but it was all gone before the end of the day.
